LigaSure Hemorrhoidectomy

LigaSure is a new energy, surgical cutting, and hemostatic device that uses precisely calculated and focused energy delivery to achieve the desired tissue effect. It consists of a generator and a hand tool similar to a pair of fine scissors. The device measures the resistance of the tissue 3,333 times per 1 second and delivers energy accordingly. Ligasure is suitable for large second-degree hemorrhoids that have failed rubber band ligation and medication or for single solitary prolapsed hemorrhoids. Similar to any surgical hemorrhoidectomy, Ligasure Hemorrhoidectomy is carried out under general anesthesia. The operation is almost bloodless and the recovery is faster with less post-operative pain. The procedure lasts about an hour and the patient goes home the same day.

LigaSure delivers a minimal amount of energy to cut tissue, resulting in less collateral damage to surrounding tissues, it uses the tissue substances (collagen, elastin) to effectively seal or solder the tissue at the same time, which is formed by the pressure and heat of the device. The heat effect is minimal, and the charring and scarring are much less. Unlike conventional diathermy which leaves an open wound.
